Dr. Olga Tzakou graduated from the Department of Pharmacy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1983 and received her PhD degree from the same institution in 1988. In 1990 she was appointed as a lecturer at the Section of Pharmacognosy and Chemistry of Natural Products, Department of Pharmacy and since 2013 is serving at the same academic unit as full professor. Her scientific interests include the isolation of bioactive natural products, the identification of volatile metabolites from pharmaceutical plants used in the traditional medicine, the evaluation of biological activities and the chemotaxonomic investigation of taxa with uncertain taxonomic status. She has published more than 150 scientific articles, four book chapters and has been invited to give lectures at international conferences and universities. She has supervised 5 doctoral theses and more than fifteen MSc students. She has participated in many organizing committees of national and international conferences and is a member of the editorial board in several scientific journals. |
